Leadership in Work Place Culture!

“Choose Positivity, default to transparency, focus on self-improvement, be a no-ego doer, listen first, then listen more, communicate with clarity, make time to reflect, live smarter, show gratitude, do the right thing!

~ Robyn Stratton-Berkessel (Buffer Core Values)

“Our only security is our ability to change.”

“Culture is the way you think, the way you act and interact.”

As I sit on the shores of the Rideau, change is a constant experience and one that you come to expect and accept.  A sunny, warm cottage day can be blown away in seconds and torrential rains with thunder and lightning will move in and the power will blow out.   The constant presence of change, with nature at its helm, indeed changes the cottage way of life.  Yet when the storms settle, the essence at the root of cottage life emerges strong and vibrant to take on another day.

At the end of the day, culture in the work place is the essence of the quality of service any organization might deliver.   As leaders, we all play a part in the culture of the organization.  The most positive strength of any leader is the ability to recognize the need for change and then lead a process to transform the organization towards success.

Work place culture forms and exists in many ways and for many reasons.  As leaders retire and the ‘new kids’ take the reins it is critically important to understand how culture can enable or block the growth and potential of opportunity.  Change is never easy but it is inevitable.  I believe it begins with self reflection and the ability to understand how our own thoughts, actions and interactions contribute to our work place culture.   It is then necessary to lead a commitment to change.

This kind of commitment is the opportunity for the leaders of today to steer a positive process and to experience the outcomes of progressive change as organizations grow in new ways.  BMG has the tools to assist you with transformation and we look forward to being part of this significant change!
