Making Do!

“You can wait forever for perfect conditions, or you can make do with what you have.”

            ~ Jack Layton

“Mend it, fix it, make do, or do without.”

            ~ Brigham Young

“Life is not always a matter of having good cards, but sometimes, playing a poor hand well.”

            ~ Jack London

In the better part of the past two years making do and managing to live without things we might have wanted or things that might have been familiar and comfortable has been a common challenge.  It became necessary to make do with or without!  It became essential to manage as well as possible and to accept and reconcile oneself amid making do.  I also believe that making do is part of the new normal and rather than fight it we must learn to coexist!  Making do presents choices; cope and survive, muddle through, improvise, get by, get along, shift, and transform.

Making do is about everchanging transformation.  In that transformation there is an opportunity to have a new understanding that making do is often related to circumstances beyond one’s control.  That we all feel circumstances differently.  I suggest that this consciously lived experience teaches compassion and gifts a new awareness of our judgment of others and self!
