“In nature, nothing is perfect, and everything is perfect.  Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.

            ~ Alice Walker

“Let’s take our hearts for a walk in the woods and listen to the magic whispers of old trees.”

“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”

            ~ Lao Tzu

“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.”

            ~ John Burroughs

Today I am most grateful to be writing from ‘the woods.’  I am surrounded by trees.  Being in ‘the woods’ has always connected to my spirit.  I feel the gifts of the trees, all my senses are intense and my attention changes.  I am more mindful; my anxiety lessens and my spirit lifts.  Trees are strong and rooted in the earth and have been a source of inspiration.

Nature nurtures balance and greatly contributes to our well-being by connecting us to a quiet restoration and strengthening of our physical, mental, and emotional health.  I suggest (for example) that everyone take nature breaks, get outside, bring nature inside with plants or flowers, gaze at the stars, sit by the lake, pay attention to the sun set, hug a tree, with purpose!  Find your own purposeful connection to ‘the woods.’

“Time spent amongst trees is never wasted time.”
