Engagement Specialist

David Buwalda (he/him) has 25 years of experience as a designer, facilitator, and project manager of multi-stakeholder engagement projects. He has led projects in the field of public health, adult education, and community engagement on several continents. Recent projects include work supporting public engagement in housing, developmental services, and long-term care in Toronto and Ontario.

David is a skilled facilitator and is currently the Community Engagement Specialist with BMG. He has a Master’s degree in Urban Planning (Tilburg University, NL) and Advanced Facilitators Certification (ICA Associates, Canada). David works closely with his clients to build engagement programs that amplify the voices of people with lived experience. He uses highly participative techniques, and an asset-based approach, that helps communities learn together, and in the process, build mutual support.
