“A real conversation always contains an invitation.  You are inviting another person to reveal herself or himself to you, to tell you who they are or what they want.”

            ~ David Whyte

“Soul connections are not often found and are worth every bit of fight left in you to keep.”

            ~ Shannon L. Alder

“The art of conversation is the art of hearing as well as being heard.”

            ~ William Hazlitt

“Encourage, lift and strengthen one another.  For the positive energy spread to one will be felt by us all.  For we are connected, one and all.”

            ~ Deborah Day

For me, right now, the world seems scary and unknown. I understand that my scary is based in lack of knowledge or my own social location.  I am struggling to be part of a solution. I desperately believe that we all need to keep talking and to LISTEN and unquestionably talk and listen differently! I think we should all ask ‘how do we stay connected and how do we figure out how to learn from each other and grow?’   And for me in particular, how do we stay connected to our elders and to the elders in all communities and how do we engage youth and our elders in our communities? How do we have authentic engagement as part of the solution to todays challenges?

David Barnes would say, “building friendships, collegial associations and healthy relationships and then mentoring those relationships, with all people, is critical to our staying connected.”

The need to change is part of our human existence. What better way of learning and growing through change then to dialogue and connect with those that see the world from a different perspective.  Not better, just different.
