Sweater Weather?

“The real things haven’t changed.  It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.”

            ~ Laura Ingalls Wilder

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

            ~ Leo Buscaglia

“Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.”

            ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

A simple thing, a warm sweater on a fall day!  Or is it simple?  Simple for who?  I have to remind myself that the simplicity of the fall days coming and going are full of simple pleasures, but not for all!  And perhaps a reminder for all of us who can wrap ourselves in warmth, of all kinds, and the reality of how incredibly easy it is for others to lose hope for the same kind of warmth.

With purposeful intent, with genuine kindness, and with hope, we can find and share the simple pleasures of a fall day.  Above all else, I encourage us to not miss the simplicity and to find ways to share and advocate for all.  Embrace the small things, find joy, acknowledge your gratitude and be part of ensuring the same for all!  At the very least share your warmth!
