“Don’t worry about what you can’t control. Our focus and energy needs to be on the things we can control. Attitude, effort, focus- these are the things we can control.”
~ Tim Tebow
“We have no control over the reality that in this world we will have trouble, but we have control over whether we decide to allow our hearts to be troubled.”
~ Erwin Raphael McManus
“Instead of worrying about what you cannot control, shift your energy to what you can create.”
~ Roy T. Bennett
“Worrying does not take aways tomorrow’s troubles. It takes away today’s peace.”

In the past few days, I have found myself in all too familiar places. Basically, locked inside as out of control fires roar across the country and the smoke roams everywhere. I have felt fear for a niece who spent a week packed and ready to evacuate, sadness for the losses that people are experiencing, compassion for the firefighters, empathy for the leadership guiding the processes, and anxiety. Which should be reminding me to live in the present, and that I can control the choices I make for myself. I can choose to be more positive and stop worrying about things I can’t control.
I believe that the fires could pull any of us away from the mindfulness of our heart and soul. I also believe that we can’t control the circumstances that affect our lives, but beyond the circumstances we can control our actions and the choices we make.
