End of a Year!

Blog

“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.”

~ Melody Beattie

“Let our New Year’s resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word.”

~ Goran Persson

“Character is the ability to carry out a good resolution long after the excitement of the moment has passed.”

~ Cavett Robert

“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”

~ Buddha

What a wonderful gift to thoughtfully look ahead! However, as the Buddha says, that look ahead is concentrated in the present moment.  This is a time to accept the gift of the new year, another year and to live each day in the present moment!

To me it is not about a new chance or a new beginning! It is a timely reminder of my present moments as I edge myself along the coming days, weeks and months. I am grateful for the symbolic event of starting over.  However, I’m making no plans to reinvent myself or my life. The plan is to stay true and strong and committed to the essence of my being.  And to take myself into each and every day ahead.

I suggest that a resolution to be steadfast in the year ahead will serve you well. The resolution to remain committed to yourself and let your outside fall into place. To resolve to bring that strength to your work and to your life and to balance the two. That steadfast commitment to yourself is what brings a goodness to humanity and the fulfillment of good works for others. It is what makes a difference in the world.  Step by step, moment by moment!

Enjoy the celebrations of this gift!
