Right and Wrong!

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.”

~ Theodore Roosevelt

“I follow three rules: Do the right thing, do the best you can, and always show people you care.”

~ Lou Holtz
“You do the right thing even if it makes you feel bad. The purpose of life is not to be happy but to be worthy of happiness.”

~ Tracy Kidder

“Don’t do the right thing for the wrong reasons. It is the “why” that keeps us committed to our choices and defines our character.”

~ Shannon L. Alder

I have no doubt that my sense of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ was a direct link to the success in my life!  No one ever had to question my actions, my character, my decisions nor my integrity.  It wasn’t always easy to do the right thing. And I had plenty of moments when the right thing felt really bad. I had many a drive home saying to myself ‘it’s a terrible thing to do the right thing and feel so bad’ … but as bad as I may have felt in those moments, the right thing was the right thing.

In a leadership position, it is important to know the difference between right and wrong, legal and illegal, ethical and unethical.  A sense of right and wrong governs our thoughts and actions and guides our conscience. As a leader, your attitude and character set the sincerity of all actions. A thoughtful and mindful respect of right and wrong is, indeed, the cornerstone of leadership! “It is not what you do it is how you do it!”
