It’s never easy to realize you have an employee that needs to move on. Even though it might seem easier to just hope the problem will go away, the truth is the problem won’t go away. A leader must take control and ensure a fair and compassionate outcome!
A leader must put necessary steps in order, follow the law and ensure that a comprehensive process protects everyone! When the necessary documentation has been gathered I suggest that such a task needs a proper time and place, a calm approach, a private conversation but also a much needed third party to observe and support both people in the conversation. Focus on the facts, be consistent, be clear, be brief and be compassionate.
