An experienced and versatile consultant, with more than 25 years in the not-for-profit and private sectors, Fernando is experienced in developing and delivering communications, marketing, public and media relations and charitable fund development programs aimed at increasing awareness, public education and funds, by setting measurable objectives, developing and monitoring budgets and ensuring cost-effective program administration.
Working with child welfare agencies in Ontario, Fernando has initiated and developed comprehensive public and media relations plans, acted as chief media spokesperson for many organizations, resulting in greater community awareness of agency mandates and child welfare issues. He has completed comprehensive program reviews and developed a corporate communications strategies and plans including managing the review, redesign and implementation of the corporation’s website. In the private sector, Fernando is experienced in sales and marketing, event design and management, corporate communications, media and public relations, as well as business development.
A long-time member and former Chair of the Fair Share for Peel advocacy campaign, Fernando has been an active member of the Board of Governors of Peel Memorial Hospital, and member and former Chair of the Peel Children`s Aid Society Board of Directors, and also served on the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS) Communications Working Group and Communications Audit Committee.
