“You are the sum total of everything you’ve ever seen, heard, eaten, smelled, been told, forgot – it’s all there. Everything influences each of us, and because of that I try to make sure that my experiences are positive.”
~ Maya Angelou
“Everyone is the sum total of past experiences. A character doesn’t just spring to life at age thirty.”
~ Kelley Armstrong
“We are nothing more than the sum of our memories and experiences.”
~ Michael Scott
B.J. Nichols says “We are the sum total of our experiences!” I had a conversation, with a friend, about hindsight in leadership. That conversation got me thinking! And I hope it gets you thinking and remembering your own path. There is much to be said about knowing what I know now, back then. Hindsight! But there is much to be said about acknowledging who you are at this very moment and giving yourself a chance to recognize the positives and negatives that have shaped your leadership.
In this very moment I am grateful for every moment that made and makes me who I am. I encourage you to reach for that gratitude for yourself. To also acknowledge that the experiences yet to come will also shape the leader you will become and the leadership qualities that will define your contributions.
When you want your leadership to take your organization to new heights, BMG wants to be part of that experience. BMG believes that every partnership we experience shapes who we are and who we will become.
