“It’s not what you say to everyone else that determines your life; it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the greatest power.”
~ Robert T. Kiyosaki
“You can’t control the outside, but you can create an environment of values you choose to live by.”
~ Richie Norton
“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”
~ Maya Angelou
Honestly, during COVID times, I have felt the full extent of all things being out of my control. Sitting in it! Hovering over it! Bending to it! Fighting with it! Wishing things were different! Hiding in my feelings! Being resigned! And finally, not my proudest moment, suffering a huge wave of FOMO (fear of missing out).
Things have slowly shifted! I believe the shift happens when you let it go, actually face reality and decide to not act out of control. The shift requires recognizing fear, anger, stress and grief. The COVID experience embodies the courage to call your emotions for what they are. And the realization that it is okay to take time to figure it out and to then rest with the comfort of that honesty. This is the simplest start to honour the values of self and explore a kinder way to go with the flow of life and trust your own path.
“Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am master of my fate and captain of my soul.”
