Legend is in the final year of their undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo, majoring in Social Development Studies with a minor in Sociology and a specialization in Social Work. They hope to explore social work further as a career once their education is complete. Legend has worked in many different jobs that have expanded their ways of thinking and allowed them to adopt diverse perspectives. They’ve served as a Program Head for a campsite with lodgers who have mental and physical disabilities, worked for Living Hyphen Magazine, an organization dedicated to exploring the hyphenated-Canadian experience through artwork and open mic events, and most recently, they were a Research Assistant for Toronto Metropolitan University, working on a research project for the Private Refugee Sponsorship Network (PRSN) that analyzed the relationship between Sponsors and Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs).

Two passions guide Legend’s actions. The first is a deep commitment to helping marginalized and discriminated people, ensuring they have the same opportunities that Legend has been so graciously presented with in life. The second is a passion for the arts, where Legend has dabbled in almost every art form. At one point or another, they have been a singer, dancer, visual artists, writer, and most prominently, a filmmaker and video editor. Legend’s videos are not just about stunning visuals—they always have a narrative behind them, with their editing style putting story first before mind-numbing visuals. In everything they create, Legend endeavors to move the audience that watches their work.

During their time with BMG, Legend looks forward to working in an environment that allows them to bring these two passions together. They are eager to enhance their knowledge of newcomers, their experiences, and the challenges of relocation, while also bringing stories of their lived experiences and aspirations to the masses. In an era where individual stories are often overlooked, Legend hopes to shine a light on the unique and beautiful narratives of those they will serve at BMG.”
