“When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.”

            ~ Jean Shinoda Bolen

“Nourishment means a quality of life; consistency in the way we treat ourselves.”

            ~ Kelis

“There are realities we all share, regardless of our nationality, language, or individual tastes. As we need food, so do we need emotional nourishment: love, kindness, appreciation, and support from others.”

            ~ Goswami Krivananda

“Be consistent in your dedication to showing your gratitude to others. Gratitude is a fuel, a medicine, and spiritual and emotional nourishment.”

            ~ Steve Maraboli

As September approaches and many of us have experienced a ‘new year’ feeling in the past when now we may be facing a very new reality. Perhaps we should consider the concept of nourishment. What does nourishment mean in all dimensions of ourselves and what does in mean to overall well-being given the changes we face on a daily basis. The past eight months have been an uncertainty, an overwhelming experience and a test of our strength. We all need nourishment to refocus and reenergize and perhaps now more than ever.

Take care of yourself from the inside out. A nourished soul can fuel the ability to nourish the people around you. This kind of nourishment enables trust, willingness and openness. Model and mentor your own nourishment and its powerful rewards. It’s not what you do, it’s how you do it. Never underestimate the nourishing power of expressed thanks and of thoughtful gratitude. Nor how a simple act of kindness can nourish your own soul.
