“The Wonder of the Woods, lies less in sight than sensing, less in sound than silence.”
~ Dean Cumings
“A forest is a living thing like a human body…each part dependent on all the other parts.”
~ Louis L’Amour
“Believe me, for I know, you will find something far greater in the woods than in books. Stones and trees will teach you that which you cannot learn from the masters.”
~ Saint Bernard of Clairvaux
I grew up in the country! I am forever grateful for my meager beginnings on the family farm and the seasonal teachings of “the woods!” My early years in nature serve me well. This is the time of year I search the sky! Have you noticed the geese returning to their northern home albeit seeming a bit confused about their final direction and destination!
I’m sure we are all feeling a bit confused about our final direction and destinations right now! I suggest that nature has a role in healing the broken parts of our lives. Nature can make us more mindful, and enable us to take note of what we see, hear, smell and feel. Just a simple walk outdoors, while we appreciate nature, draws us to the present, our emotions and the vitality of our spirits to overcome challenges. So imagine the power of self when we deliberately honour ‘the woods’ around us in all its forms and opportunities.
“Study Nature, love Nature, stay close to Nature. It will never fail you.”
~ Frank Lloyd Wright
