Self-Checkouts

“We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated.”

“I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”

“Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.”

I’m back!  I enjoyed my break!  I hope you enjoyed the month of July!

I had time to ponder a few things and even be troubled by a few things.  I’m returning with a rant.  Please know this is a very personal rant and in no way does it represent the opinions of BMG.  Self-Checkouts.  Might I encourage, the next time you stumble onto one of them, to think past the rush of time, and consider the impact of their so-called convenience!

One reality of my aging is that my voice feels small.  That the years of my commitment to women’s equity, and advancement somehow got small too.  That the reality is that the same struggles for women continue and that the struggles are significant, still, today!  Then why am I ranting about self-checkouts, you might ask!  My silent boycott, no matter how long I need to wait in a line up I refuse to use a self-checkout!  My small voice protest.  I won’t be part of a movement that puts women out of work; women trying to feed their kids, older women trying to pay their rent, young women trying to pay for education, single women, women abused and abandoned, women under-represented in decision making at all levels, and women continuing to face the slow advancement of gender equality.

At the very least, your version of protest is needed!  Silent or Voice!
